Toys For Tots
Students from the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Student Council teamed up to collect over 90 toys to be donated this holiday season.  Thank you to everyone who donated.
Door Decorating Contest
Students and teachers are competing by homeroom to see who can decorate the most festive door.  Click the link above for pictures. 
Students from The Key Club and Student Council collected over 1,400 canned goods to be donated to local families in need.
Brownville-Glen Park Elementary students learned about 19th century Christmas celebrations on a trip to the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site.  Click the link above to read all about it in an article featured in the Watertown Daily Times.
8th graders got a taste of the real world on Friday, October 28th in a hands-on simulation called Mad City Money.  Students were given a occupation, salary, spouse, and debt.  The 8th graders learned how to balance all of this in a budget well also spending their money in a mall of "wants".  Click the link above for pictures and more information.

On Friday, June 17th students from Brownville-Glen Park and Dexter elementary celebrated the end of the school year.  Obstacle courses, bounce houses, and a dunking booth were just a few of the activities.  Click the link above to see photos of the event.
Fifty-seven seniors from the class of 2016 were honored for their academic and extracurricular achievements during Senior Awards Night on June 16, 2016. Award categories included academic, military, community, athletic, and State of New York awards. Over $98,000 in scholarship monies were awarded during this event.
Thank you to Renzi Food Service for awarding the General Brown Central School District a certificate for $150 in supplies and equipment.
4th Graders from Dexter and Brownville-Glen Park Elementary visited Stone Mills to learn about life in the 1800's.
Members of the 10th Mountain Division Band visited students at General Brown Junior-Senior High School to work on marching techniques and music. 
Dexter Elementary hosted the annual Senior Citizen's Brunch on May 6th.  Approximately 60 attendees enjoyed a great mean and a performance by Dexter Elementary students.

    The General Brown Central School District is currently accepting nominations for the Memorial Wall. The purpose of this memorial is to recognize those individuals who have given their lives in service to the General Brown community. Click Here for more information and a nomination form.

    General Brown Presents Disney's Tarzan. Come watch our talented students as they take you on an adventure through the jungle to discover friendship, family, love, and overcoming differences.Tickets are $6.00 at the door on Friday, March 24th at 7:00 pm, and Saturday March 25th at 1:00 and 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. There will be a chicken & Biscuits dinner starting at 5:30 in the high school cafeteria on March 24th. Dinner tickets are $5.00 at the door.

  • 2017-2018 Kindergarten Registration

    The General Brown Central School District is now asking residents who have a child eligible for Kindergarten to pre-register them for the 2016-2017 school year.  Eligible children must be five on or before December 1, 2017.

    General Brown residents must call the District office at 315-779-2300 option 9, option 3 between March 20, 2017 and March 31, 2017 to pre-register for Kindergarten

    Further information regarding registration packets and screenings will be sent out in the spring.

  • 2016-2017 Universal Pre-Kindergarten

    The General Brown Central School District will once again offer General Brown Residents and their children the opportunity to attend Universal Pre-Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year.

    If you have a child who is four years old or will be four years old on or before December 1, 2017, that child is eligible for Universal Pre-Kindergarten.

    General Brown residents can call Donna Keefer at 315-779-2300, Option #9, option #3 between March 6, 2017 and March 24, 2017 to be placed on the list for Pre-Kindergarten.

    Further information regarding registration packets and screenings will be sent out in the spring.

  • Nominating Petitions for Board of Education Seats Available:

    The General Brown Central School District will hold its Annual Budget vote and Board of Education election on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from noon to 9:00 p.m.  Board of Education vacancies exist for two (2) 3-year terms, currently held by Mrs. Cathy Pitkin and Mr. Michael Ward

    Nominating petitions may be obtained from the District Office - 17643 Cemetery Road - Dexter, Monday - Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

    The General Brown Central School District’s facilities have aged and require repairs and renovation. The Board of Education is proposing a $9.3 million dollar capital project to ensure our facilities are safe and properly maintained.     Two General Brown students recently received recognition from the New York State School Music Association for their outstanding performances and perfect scores on their solos last spring. Collin Vodicka was selected as a bass alternate, and Meganne Brenon was selected to sing soprano in the Conference All State Chorus on Sunday, December 4th. Meganne will be attending many rigorous rehearsals and performing in the concert this weekend over the course of four days in Rochester NY. Congratulations to our fantastic General Brown Lions!

  • Lead Testing

    Recent events in the news have highlighted water conditions in several locations across this country, including areas in our region. During the recent New York State legislation session, a bill was passed specifically pertaining to water testing in school districts. Water testing has been completed in all three buildings and the results have been posted to our website for each building. More information is available here.

  • Backpack Program

    Did you know that the backpack program is available at the Jr. Sr. High school? This program is a way to assist families by providing everyday meal items to help when kids are not in school. Backpacks are given out by Friday every week. There are no complicated forms to fill out just a quick phone call or email to Kammy Brown Hanlin and you are all set to go. Need more information?     The General Brown Central School District wants to hear from you. We would like to know about your accomplishments since graduating high school, including but not limited to Academics, Art, Music, Athletics, Citizenship, and any other positive life experiences you would like to share. Please send a picture, your name, graduating year, and a short write up documenting your experience. We will review your submission and post it to the school website and Facebook page.   • Department of Defense Education Act Grant

    The General Brown Central School District is proud to be one of the recipients of the 2016 DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Act) grants. This $250,000 grant will be used to provide professional development and technology to the staff and students of both Dexter and Brownville-Glen Park Elementary to promote student learning in the area of English Language Arts. The grant period spans until the year 2021. We are both excited and proud to be partnering with DoDEA to provide quality student learning for both our military and non-military dependent students.
