8th graders got a taste of the real world on Friday, October 28th in a hands-on simulation called Mad City Money.  Students were given a occupation, salary, spouse, and debt.  The 8th graders learned how to balance all of this in a budget well also spending their money in a mall of "wants".  Click the link above for pictures and more information.

On Friday, June 17th students from Brownville-Glen Park and Dexter elementary celebrated the end of the school year.  Obstacle courses, bounce houses, and a dunking booth were just a few of the activities.  Click the link above to see photos of the event.
 
Fifty-seven seniors from the class of 2016 were honored for their academic and extracurricular achievements during Senior Awards Night on June 16, 2016. Award categories included academic, military, community, athletic, and State of New York awards. Over $98,000 in scholarship monies were awarded during this event.
 
Thank you to Renzi Food Service for awarding the General Brown Central School District a certificate for $150 in supplies and equipment.
 
4th Graders from Dexter and Brownville-Glen Park Elementary visited Stone Mills to learn about life in the 1800's.
 
Members of the 10th Mountain Division Band visited students at General Brown Junior-Senior High School to work on marching techniques and music. 
 
Dexter Elementary hosted the annual Senior Citizen's Brunch on May 6th.  Approximately 60 attendees enjoyed a great mean and a performance by Dexter Elementary students.
 
Students at Dexter Elementary recently competed with two other schools in a spaghetti and marshmallow project.  Click the link above to learn more.
 
Visit Bedtimemath.org for fun ways to make math part of your family's daily routine.  This is a great way to get your child excited about math.  You can also check out their free app for convenient daily math problems.

  • Senior Citizens Holiday Concert Rescheduled

    The Senior Citizens Holiday Concert originally scheduled for December 8th has been rescheduled to Monday, December 12th from 10:00 to 12:30 in the General Brown Jr/Sr High School Auditorium.

  • Santa Paws

    The National Honor Society invites students in Pre-K through 5th grade to join Santa Paws for cookie decorating, games, crafts, and more. The event takes place on Friday, December 9th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the General Brown Jr/Sr High School.  More Information Here.

  • NYSSMA

    Two General Brown students recently received recognition from the New York State School Music Association for their outstanding performances and perfect scores on their solos last spring. Collin Vodicka was selected as a bass alternate, and Meganne Brenon was selected to sing soprano in the Conference All State Chorus on Sunday, December 4th. Meganne will be attending many rigorous rehearsals and performing in the concert this weekend over the course of four days in Rochester NY. Congratulations to our fantastic General Brown Lions!

  • Lead Testing

    Recent events in the news have highlighted water conditions in several locations across this country, including areas in our region. During the recent New York State legislation session, a bill was passed specifically pertaining to water testing in school districts. Water testing has been completed in all three buildings although we currently only have results for Browville Glen Park Elementary and Dexter Elementary. More information is available here.

    7NEWS, Fox 28 & MeTV in collaboration with AAMCO Transmission is launching an exciting new program for students in grades 7-12. #ListenNNY asks students to write their own commercials about serious questions they deal with in their everyday lives. They give students 3 prompt questions for scripts. Scripts can be written by a single student or a group of students.  Check out the video, read more information here, and register today with this Registration Form.

  • Backpack Program

    Did you know that the backpack program is available at the Jr. Sr. High school? This program is a way to assist families by providing everyday meal items to help when kids are not in school. Backpacks are given out by Friday every week. There are no complicated forms to fill out just a quick phone call or email to Kammy Brown Hanlin and you are all set to go. Need more information?     The General Brown Central School District wants to hear from you. We would like to know about your accomplishments since graduating high school, including but not limited to Academics, Art, Music, Athletics, Citizenship, and any other positive life experiences you would like to share. Please send a picture, your name, graduating year, and a short write up documenting your experience. We will review your submission and post it to the school website and Facebook page. This is a great way to stay connected and show the community what being a Lion is all about.
