Mad City Money is coming to General Brown! The 8th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in Mad City Money on Friday, October 28th, 2016 from 11:30-2:30.
7NEWS, Fox 28 & MeTV in collaboration with AAMCO Transmission is launching an exciting new program for students in grades 7-12. #ListenNNY asks students to write their own commercials about serious questions they deal with in their everyday lives. They give students 3 prompt questions for scripts. Scripts can be written by a single student or a group of students. JCC will be holding a nursing degree information session for prospective students on Tuesday, October 18th at 4:00 pm in the David Gregor Building, room 5-201. Attendees will learn about prerequisite coursework, admission requirements, the college application process, and financial aid.
Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York and the North Country Prenatal Perinatal Council are thrilled to bring you an evening with Al Vernacchio. Al Vernacchio is a nationally recognized expert in adolescent sexual health and education. He is famous for his “Ted Talk” and has been recognized as GLSEN’s Educator of the Year. The evening is appropriate for adults and teens. Did you know that the backpack program is available at the Jr. Sr. High school? This program is a way to assist families by providing everyday meal items to help when kids are not in school. Backpacks are given out by Friday every week. There are no complicated forms to fill out just a quick phone call or email to Kammy Brown Hanlin and you are all set to go. Need more information? The 2017 LION yearbook will be on sale Tuesday, October 11, through Tuesday, November 22. Student edition is $35 while senior edition with personalization is $40. The purchase can be made in the main office or during lunch periods. Checks are to be made payable to GBHS - Yearbook 2017. More information here.
The PSAT for 11th grade students is scheduled on October 19th. Students are encouraged to sign up in the guidance office. A $15.00 fee is required when the student signs up. A study guide is included in the fee.
